KTZ expands its terminal network abroad – a joint intermodal terminal in the port of Alyat

12.11.2024

In Baku, as part of the 29th UN Climate Change Conference, an Agreement was signed to implement a project to create an intermodal cargo terminal at the Port of Alat. KTZ continues to develop its terminal network abroad based on the Head of State’s directive to strengthen Kazakhstan’s integration into existing international transport routes.

The document was signed by the leadership of SK-AIH Investment Fund Ltd (JSC «Samruk-Kazyna,» Azerbaijan Investment Holding), JSC «Kazakhstan Temir Zholy,» CJSC «Baku International Sea Trade Port» (Azerbaijan), and Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co., Ltd (China).

The Azerbaijani side made the initiative possible by providing a land plot, operational berths, and terminal facilities at the Port of Alat. The project will contribute to the growth in container train volumes along China–Europe–China route via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), reducing delivery times, transportation costs, and transshipment time.

For reference: The new terminal will include a universal cargo area, a covered warehouse complex of 5,000 square meters, and a container yard capable of holding over 1,000 containers.
